Welcome to Women In Sustainable Energy

WISE is a Denver-area organization providing training, leadership and professional development, networking, mentoring and education for women in the sustainable energy field.

Mission:

WISE promotes education, mentoring and networking for women in Colorado in the evolving field of sustainable energy.

We welcome members from all sectors of the sustainable energy field, including those working for corporations, not-for-profits, community organizations, vendor/supplier companies, government, public interest groups and academia. WISE members range from established senior leaders in the field, to middle management, new entrants and those interested in working in sustainable energy.

WISE Membership:

Membership in WISE entitles you to attend our monthly meetings for free, and you’ll enjoy discounted admission at special events. Our regular monthly meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of each month and typically feature an outside speaker on a sustainable energy topic. We are also planning several special events throughout the year.

As a member, you’ll have access to the members-only section of our website (coming soon!) which will contain membership contact information, archived presentations, and more. In addition, you’ll have access to this discussion group website, where we will share information on upcoming events, job postings, and documents and resources on sustainable energy.

Membership in WISE goes from April 2010-March 2011. Dues are $50 for regular membership and $30 for full time students and retirees.

SEPTEMBER: THE PARADIGM PROJECT
Always thought that super efficient, sustainable housing was only for the well-to-do? Take another look.

Join WISE as we explore The Paradigm Project  in Lafayette, Colorado, targeted to be the first affordable “Reverse Energy Community” in the U.S.  Scott Simkus, Development Manager for the Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA) will  share his experience from the recently completed pilot project, which will serve as a template for an 153 unit planned development. Slated to break ground in Lafayette in late 2010, the project is a collaborative effort of the BCHA, All American Homes, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and others to develop affordable housing with near zero and potentially zero net energy consumption.
